- Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud 1 History
- The Silver Cloud was designed by J.P. Batchley.
-
- It was the last of the true Rolls-Royce family of cars, being built on a separate chassis. It weighed in at almost 2 tonnes, used the 4.9 litre straight 6 engine and returned a fair 14.5 miles per gallon. Top speed was 102.9 M.P.H.
- 2,238 standard examples were built between 1955 and 1958 costing £5,078 inc taxes when new.
- These cars are very much sought after by the American and Japanese markets.
- The Le Baron Silver Cloud 1 was purchased (rescued) in 1986 from a private owner in Southampton.
- It was in a state of total dereliction having been stored for many years in a garage of which the roof had fallen in.
- Not a panel was useable, the tyres had rotted away as had the interior of the car.
-
- We set about a total restoration project, having the bodywork and mechanics fully rebuilt. We changed the colour from the Gray over electric blue, to the favoured Porcelain White.
- Now presented in top condition, it is a firm favourite of our customers.
